Y!M 9.0 "Call setup Assistant again and again on every call...why??"

dear friends,

I have a newly bought HP dv4 1080EO with windows Vista home Premium. I have a problem with Yahoo messanger 9.0, that it ask to run the call setup assistnt for every call i use to dail from it. I have done a lot of technical steps, even I have run the system recovery on advise of HP support, but atlast they said they cannot deal with it anymore,as yahoo being a third party software.

I have checked my machine with skype and Windows Live messsanger,it works perfectly fine. But Yahoo messanger always ask to run up th call setup assistant to increase voice quality.

What should I do to get rid of this.

Please assit.

Best regards

Are you using Phone Out or are you just using the 1 on 1 voice calls from PC to PC?

OK, gotcha!

1. Have you already updated all your audio drivers to the current version?
2. Can you please tell me in Control Panel / Sounds what the default selection for both Mic and Speakers are?
3. When you run the call set up assistant, you probably see both the default items you've listed above, as well as the same items not listed as default and perhaps even more choices if you have a headset or webcam. Can you tell me which selections you are using in Y!M?
4. Can you tell me if after using Y!M for a call, are you switching to any other sound profile? For instance, if you are using a headset on Y!M and then after you are done you switch back to internal speakers.

Also, while the Truspeech Codec is not required for 1-1 calls with Vista, it is necessary for Voice conference. Have you already installed that? I'm not thinking it will make any difference but you never know.

You will need to run messenger either on a administrator account or run it as administrator.

If it's not able to write to your system, your settings will not stick for cal setup.
