Free AIM Expressions

Did you ever wonder how you can get the new Expressions with the cool smileys and sounds in AIM for free? Well now you can!

Installation

First, download the Australian version of AIM 5.1. This version is all in English and has everything the English version of AIM has except the AIM Today window. This actually makes AIM nicer because there is one less button crowding the buddy list. You can install this version right over your English version and all your settings will transfer over to the Australian AIM version. So no need to worry about losing anything.

Getting the new expressions and sounds

Now after you installed it sign on your Screen Name. Then go to the little wrench on the toolbar that says "Prefs", which of course stands for Preferences. In Preferences, go to "AIM Expressions" on the side panel.

In that panel, click "Get More AIM Expressions." In the bottom of that window you'll see "Library" and a "Select an Expression" drop down menu. Pull open drop down menu, pick the expression you want and hit "Go!" Click the "Get It Now!" button on the next page. A box will come up that says "You have just completed downloading a new AIM Expression. Would you like to use...." If you want to apply the Expression right then and there, you can just click yes. If you choose to click no, you still have the Expression in your AIM Expression section of your Preferences.

Now perhaps you don't like the Expression but you only want the Cool Smileys or the Cool Sounds. Start by going to the AIM Expressions under Preferences. There should be a few dropdown menus for you to choose from.

If you want just the new smileys then pick the one you want in "Smiley Set," go to "Display Set" and then to standard, click okay. You can mix and match all the Expressions together to meet your own preferences.

Now you can use the new Smileys, Sounds, and/or Expressions whenever you want.
