brosix_boxBrosix is an instant messaging client that is available in both an enterprise form and a free client in the similar vein as AIM and other services. The enterprise client is the core of their business and it offers a high level of security which is often needed for business conversations. The enterprise version can be found at http://www.brosix.com. The company charges for the client based off of the size of the network each business needs, a network that the company hosts for the businesses. You can also download the free version which is available at http://www.brosix.org.

Features

Brosix offers the typical person to person text chat but they also throw in such features as voice chat, video chat, co-browsing, whiteboard, text/voice/video conferencing, the ability to leave voicemails, and the ability to leave an offline message.

Security, Security, Security

Security is one of the major selling points of the Brosix software. You do not have to configure your own network, they do it for you. You can control every network members’ contact list, block/enable users depending on the need, and confirm every member. In other words they offer total security and control over networks built in the enterprise version.

Other Bonuses

The basic Brosix messenger is not only free but it also carries no advertising. If you decide to purchase the enterprise version it offers user authentication which allows you to build your own totally secure network, as well as other features not included in the free version.

I’ve never heard of Brosix before. How long has it been around?

Also, the article doesn’t really say if the free version is compatible with any other IM programs. Does it work with AIM or Yahoo?
