Kopete contact list

Kopete is a free, multi-protocol instant messenger for the K Desktop Environment (KDE) on Linux and UNIX.  The goal of Kopete is to provide a single program to access all of the most popular IM systems.

Kopete includes useful tools such as message encryption, archiving, and “tuning” of the notification system so that only important contacts can interrupt you.

Kopete provides typical instant messaging functionality. You won’t find voice or webcam chat support.

Supported Protocols

Kopete supports the following IM protocols:

  • AIM
  • ICQ
  • Windows Live Messenger (WLM)(formerly MSN)
  • Yahoo
  • Jabber
  • Google Talk
  • Novell Groupwise
  • Gadu-Gadu
  • WinPopup

The Kopete API allows third-party developers to extend support for other IM protocols (SMS, Skype, SILC, etc.) and add functionality to the program.
