Miranda is a very small and powerful multi-protocol instant messenger for Windows. It does not have it's own native protocol, since it supports:
- ICQ
- MSN Messenger
- AOL Instant Messenger
- Yahoo! IM
- Gadu Gadu
- Tlen
- SMS
… and others via Miranda's extremely active plugin development community. The features and user interface are very customizable, a treasure for tweakers. Localization in Polish, Russian, German, Chinese, Japanese, and other languages makes Miranda accessible to the world of non-anglophone IM'ers.
Miranda's primary benefit over other multi-protocol IM's such as Odigo and Trillian is the fact that Miranda focuses on being minimal. Its footprint on the desktop, in memory, and on the hard drive is very small. Do not expect Wizards and animated assistants to help you along the way, instead expect a clean, crisp, and easy to use interface!
The most recent stable release (0.3) includes a full installer, accompanied by a great new website which features hundreds of free icons, numerous plug-ins, backgrounds, and support forums. For more screenshots of Miranda, visit the official site.
